Meet the Artist Behind Dogrose and Catnip – Pet Portraits with Heart

Hi, I’m Lynda, the Wiltshire-born artist behind

Dogrose and Catnip. I live near Bath with my husband

and our two Maine Coon cross rescue cats. We

recently said goodbye to our beloved Boxer dog, who

has now crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. We are

devastated by his loss and miss him more than words

can say.

He was a huge part of our lives, and his presence will

always be felt in my heart and my art.

A Lifelong Love for Art and Animals

As a child, I was always drawing—especially animals—and I loved my art classes at school. But, like many, life took over, and I didn’t pick up a pencil for years. Then, in 2017, I rediscovered my passion for art and started drawing again, this time using colour pencils and pastels.

My love for dogs, cats, and wildlife naturally led me to specialize in pet portrait commissions, but my artistic interests continue to grow. I am now learning oil painting to expand my range, offering original artwork, prints, and greeting cards featuring a variety of subjects.

Capturing the Heart and Soul of Your Pet

Having shared my life with pets and experienced the heartbreak of losing them, I understand just how much they mean to us. That’s why every custom pet portrait I create is filled with care and attention to detail. My goal is not just to achieve an accurate likeness, but to capture their essence, expression, and unique personality.

Each portrait is a labor of love—whether it’s a dog’s soulful eyes, a cat’s playful smirk, or even the tiniest whisker details. Seeing the joy my artwork brings to my clients is the most rewarding part of my job!

Beyond Pet Portraits – Wildlife Art & Prints

In addition to dog portraits and cat portraits, I also enjoy painting British wildlife. You can purchase original artwork, prints, and printed canvases of my wildlife pieces, or even commission a custom wildlife portrait.

If you’re looking for a unique piece of animal artwork for your home, I’d love to help bring your vision to life!
