Meet the Artist Behind Dogrose and Catnip – Pet Portraits with Heart
Hello, I’m Lynda – the Wiltshire-born artist behind
Dogrose and Catnip, specialising in hand-drawn
pet portraits and British wildlife art.
I live just outside Bath with my husband and our
two Maine Coon cross rescue cats. Recently, we
said a heartbreaking goodbye to our beloved
Boxer dog. He has now crossed the Rainbow Bridge,
and we miss him more than words can express.
His love and spirit continue to inspire my artwork
every single day.
A Lifelong Love for Art and Animals
From a young age, I was always sketching animals and loved every minute of art class. But like many people, life and work took over, and I stopped drawing for many years. In 2017, I picked up a coloured pencil again and rediscovered the joy of creating art.
Since then, I’ve specialised in custom pet portrait commissions in colour pencil, pastel, and occasionally watercolour or gouache. More recently, I’ve begun learning oil painting to expand my collection and offer a wider range of original artwork, art prints, and greeting cards featuring dogs, cats, wildlife, and other animals.
Why Choose a Custom Pet Portrait?
If you’re a pet owner, you know how deep that bond runs. I’ve lived with – and lost – many beloved animals, so I understand how precious their memory is. That’s why each bespoke pet portrait I create is crafted with love, time, and care to capture your pet’s unique personality and spirit.
Whether it’s a soulful spaniel, a cheeky tabby, or a nosy rabbit, I’ll bring their character to life through detailed, expressive art that’s more than just a likeness—it’s a memory, preserved.
Wildlife Art and Animal-Inspired Home Decor
In addition to dog and cat portraits, I also create highly detailed wildlife drawings, with a focus on British species. Many of my original works are available as high-quality art prints, printed canvas wall art, and eco-friendly greeting cards.
Whether you're looking to honour your pet or gift a piece of wildlife art to a nature-loving friend, I’d love to help you find the perfect piece.
